In the weirdest turn of events I’ve ever seen the man last seen with Jackie Douthart, Benjamin Biggs, is now dead. All because he chose to steal an SUV, lead police on a high-speed chase, and shoot 2 police officers and then himself. You heard it here first people! I was one of the only ones to publish something BEFORE this dude went psycho car thief that told people that he was the last one seen with Jackie Douthart. See the first article here. So when a link was posted by a reader of the article (thank you by-the-way) I had to see where it led. (more…)

Los Angeles, California Herbert Tracy White first met Edward and Melissa Garcia at an ATM in Hollywood, where they bummed cigarettes and money from him.  He later told his wife he was helping out a “lovely young couple”.  Herbert was a former alcoholic, who had turned his life around and become known for helping those down on their luck.  According to his wife, he would often answer the phone and go out in the middle of the night to give rides to intoxicated acquaintances because he didn’t want anyone to drive drunk. The holidays were his “busy time of year”, due to all the parties, so when he got a call at 2 a.m. on November 28 asking for a ride, it was nothing out of the ordinary. Except that he never came home. (more…)

Dayton, Ohio You just don’t know about some people. What drives their thinking? Are they thinking at all? Today’s story involves a guy that is the poster boy for the above questions. Meet Brian Horst. Mr. Horst started his morning off with a bit of vandalism that cumulated in a stolen steel cylinder, stolen packages of meat, some stolen Mad Dog 20/20, and a busted up ATM. It’s one of those incidents that have to leave the cops shaking their heads and laughing, looking forward to the tales they can tell down the road about this idiot, knowing full well that the rookie hearing the story will wonder in the back of his mind if he is being put on.

Missoula, Montana Flashing lights! Sirens! There are few things in this world that are cooler. To this day, anytime I hear the wail of a siren, I stop what I am doing to look around in hopes of catching sight of the emergency apparatus passing by. One brief glimpse is all it takes to make me happy. I volunteered as a Firefighter to be around them. Spent 160+ hours learning to be an EMT and got to drive ambulances. And still, I will stop and look.

That’s why I kind of get our silly perp of the day, Carey C. Sterling of Missoula, Montana. She likes flashing lights too. And although her fetish involves those of lesser status (police vehicles), it’s obvious to me she has the bug. How else can you explain trying to steal not one, but two of Missoula’s Finest’s vehicles. (more…)

Middletown, Kentucky It’s common that I research a certain area in which a particular crime occurs, especially when it takes place in an area prone to ridicule. In doing this, it gives me a glimpse into the make-up of the area, the people, and the educational background. Really – I just want to see how “on track” the stereo-types are and most generally, they fit like a glove with the crime committed. One really gets the sense that perhaps the perp’s only real problem is that some smartass new cop rolled into town and busted them from something they’d been doing for a long time with no interference…the real hillbilly areas of this country. This story had me a bit perplexed. I researched the educational background of Middletown and was surprised to see, according to the 2000 Census, 33.5% attended some college or trade school. Either my newest feature didn’t fall into that percentage, he lied, or he thought the interviewer was talking about Carol’s Kiddie College where he spent the first 7 years of his life trying to graduate.
